My Experience with Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Spring Summer Collection 2013

I can vividly recall the moment when the fashion bug lured me into its magical web… I was 14 years old when I started to notice the magic of fabrics and colors changing persona of the people around me. Since then, the love of all things fashion has become a part of my DNA, embedded deeply inside of me, coursing through my veins, making my life more enjoyable and purposeful. Most self-proclaimed lovers of fashion tend to be attracted to the glamour aspect of it: the parties, “celebrity” status and spotlight… Me..?? I love the technical side, the visualization of a single thought, adding a dose of creativity and watch it grow into something spectacular.

So when the opportunity actually arose of going to a fashion week: “thanks to my designer friend Jenjum Gadi who had to showcase his collection in the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Spring Summer 2013” sent me the invitation to support him, I was more than honored to be there for him and  applaud  his genius creations. Rubbing elbows with industry professionals and connecting with total strangers was exhilarating.
Jenjum’s collection at Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Spring Summer 2013 was young and contemporary with hand woven designs. The colors used were bright with shades of gota used to enhance the garments. There was a lot of hand embroidery, machine embroidery, zardozi and slight of sequin used.

The male models wore jackets heavily embellished with gota rolls.

Apart for Jenjum Gadi I got an opportunity to watch two more shows of Pia Pauro, and Shivan & Naresh.  Pia Pauro’s collection comprises of prints over swimwear, sequinned kaftans and bikinis, beach bags, pool lounge wear in parrot green and orange.

Shivan & Naresh’s collection was very vibrant and young. The dominating colors were orange, black and white. They focused on swimwear, cocktail dresses, jumpsuits and more.

Now getting back to my experience, it wasn't just the clothes that baffled me, it was the whole show, I couldn't believe how much effort had been put into every last details, the lights, visuals, music, choreography and props. The show have taught me a lot and changed by opinion on fashion industry and I hope to get even more connected to it.
