A Glimpse of New York Street Fashion
"Concrete Jungle where dreams are made of, there is nothing
you can’t do; now you’re in New York.”
New York is a place where concept of street fashion was born.
It’s a place where fashion experiments became the runway inspirations and
changed into world trends. It showcases different individual expressions in
terms of the way they dress. But what
exactly makes New Yorkers famous for their experimental nature? It’s the confidence and the attitude to look different and not to follow the
league. Different communities have
brought different looks on the platter be It European Americans, Hispanic and
Latino Americans, African Americans or Asian Americans, everyone has
contributed their bit to create street style.
It’s the streets of New York where talent and new fashion is born and
nurtured every day. In spite of being
one of the coldest places, New Yorkers have always stayed up-to-date
fashionably. Colourful blazers, long
coats, vintage sweaters, boots, designer handbags, junk jewellery, oxford
shoes, huge hats, layered outfits are some of the day to day wear, but in an
innovative manner. The upper east side of Manhattan is undoubtedly one of the
most beautiful places of New York. It’s easy to get distracted by high-profile
residents coming and going, but when you look past the boldfaced names,
landmark buildings, well-tended sidewalks, museums and central parks; you see a
distinctive sense of style, even in its most extreme versions. Get an upper east sider talking about the
neighbourhood look, and they’re quick to tell you that it’s a blend of
conservative and sophisticated. Piling on and wearing too many colours in one
outfit will earn you brownie points. Style is in its residents DNA, making New York
one of the fashion savvy destinations in the world. In my future blogs, I’ll talk about how
different communities of New York have contributed in street fashion.
